Spend the Day with Architect and Seaside Prize Recipient Scott Merrill

January 28, 2012

10:00 a.m.  We will meet at the amphitheater in Central Square, and the day will begin with a walking tour in Seaside led by Scott Merrill.  Scott will discuss the way houses were designed and constructed in the early days and show on-the-ground examples of the build-out progression to the "masterpiece" houses.

11:30 a.m.  The walking tour concludes and participants will board a bus for Rosemary Beach where Scott will speak about its place in the 30-A chain of new urban communities.

12:00 p.m.  A casual lunch, catered by The Summer Kitchen Cafe, will be served in the Rosemary Beach Town Hall, another building designed by Scott Merrill. Lunch will consist of assorted sandwiches, salad and beverages, such as hot and cold tea, coffee and water. The lunch is co-sponsored by Rosemary Beach Foundation.  Scott will speak prior to the lunch being served.

1:00 p.m.  Take some time to walk around the Rosemary Beach town center.

2:30 p.m.  Bus will return to Seaside.

5:00 p.m.  The Seaside Prize Ceremony will be held in the Seaside Chapel.  A Notre Dame sponsored Seaside Research Portal will be explained and launched, plans for a Seaside Nolli plan revealed and the 19th annual Seaside Prize will be awarded to Scott Merrill.

7:30 p.m.  Dinner, catered by Table Five Chef Phil McDonald, will be held at 115 Seaside Avenue, the former residence of Robert and Daryl Davis.

10:00 p.m.  Dinner concludes.
